A 5.6-magnitude earthquake hits China-Kyrgyzstan border

A 5.6-magnitude earthquake occurred on the border of China and Kyrgyzstan on Monday morning, according to the seismological experimental and methodological expedition of Kazakhstan’s national seismological research center.

The epicenter of the quake was located 278 kilometers southeast of the city of Almaty, its energy class was 12.1. The magnitude was 5.6, and the depth was 10 kilometers.

A few hours before this seismic activity, at 3:42am Astana time, a 5.9-magnitude earthquake occurred in the same region, the tremors of which were also felt in Almaty.
