Belgium to close its nuclear reactors by 2025

by APA

Belgium will close all seven of its nuclear reactors by 2025, the government stated on Thursday. However, the country reserved until March 15 the right to extend the deadline as it explores ways to offset the loss of energy production, APA reports citing Teletrader.

The federal government might be forced to consider alternative options after the construction of a gas-fired plant in Vilvoorde was blocked by the Flemish government. In addition, €100 million will be invested in new nuclear technology, including small modular reactors.
