According to a source, U.S. intelligence services have spotted indications of potential construction activity at a suspected Chinese military facility in the United Arab Emirates.
The development work was noticed at a port close to Abu Dhabi in December 2022, according to top-secret intelligence papers that were leaked and accessed by the Washington Post. This activity was observed roughly a year after the UAE, a steadfast ally of the United States, said that it was halting the construction because Beijing would exploit the port for military objectives, according to U.S. officials.
According to U.S. intelligence, the current activity at the location is a result of the UAE’s closer connections with China and also reflects Beijing’s aspirations to establish a global military network.
