European Parliament adopted a resolution on the human rights in Kazakhstan

Members of the European Parliament have adopted a resolution on the human rights situation in Kazakhstan in the wake of the recent protests and riots.

Report informs, citing RIA Novosti, that the resolution calls for an international investigation into the recent developments in Kazakhstan and sanctions against the country’s officials under the EU Global Human Rights Sanctions Regime.

589 out of 671 voting lawmakers supported the document, 35 voted against and 47 abstained.
