Germany is still considering boycotting Nord Stream 2

Vestnik Kavkaza – German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said that the German authorities are considering all options, including the suspension of the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, as a reaction to the incident with Alexei Navalny.

“We will put all the options on the agenda and make the decision at the appropriate time,” he said in an interview with the ZDF TV channel.

At the same time, the minister noted that the decision on the project’s fate will depend on Russia.

“Russia, by taking part in the investigation, can contribute to the final decision,” Maas said.

“You can’t say that since there are no sanctions in effect right now, then there is no need to introduce any,” TASS quoted him as saying.

“Sometimes it is necessary to take action,” thereby showing that “we don’t want to live in a world without any rules,” the head of Germany’s diplomatic department concluded.
