Iran and Pakistan discuss maritime security cooperation

Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Karachi and Director General of Pakistan Maritime Security Agency in a meeting discussed security cooperation in the maritime sector.

Hassan Nourian and Director General of PMSA Rear Admiral Muhammad Shuaib discussed mutual  cooperation in the field of maritime security.

During the meeting, the need to sign a memorandum of understanding was stressed between PMSA and Border Guard Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran in order to develop and deepen cooperation on issues of mutual interest, the draft of which has already been provided to Border Guard Command through diplomatic channels.

At the end of the meeting an Iranian fishermen boat Al-Raheemi which had been apprehended by PMSA in Pakistani waters was returned by the PMSA to its owner.

Iranian CG Hassan Nourian expressed his satisfaction and appreciated the efforts of PMSA and gratitude showed by Government of Pakistan.

An official statement said the gesture of Pakistan Government and PMSA would further strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
