Iran and Syria emphasized need for new joint projects

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in a meeting with Iranian Roads and Rural Development Minister Rostam Qasemi emphasized the need for starting new joint Iranian-Syrian projects to secure both countries’ interests.

In the meeting in Damascus on Wednesday, President Assad said that the new joint projects, in addition to commercial and economic interactions between the two countries to secure both nations’ interests, and further strengthen bonds of friendship between them are of great significance.

In the meeting, meanwhile, ways for expansion of bilateral transactions between the two countries’ state and private sectors were surveyed.

The Iranian roads and rural development minister emphasized Iran’s strong stance in support of the Syrian nation’s resistance in campaign against terrorists and announced Iran’s interest in expansion of bilateral cooperation in fields that can secure both friendly nations’ interests.

Rostam Qasemi who is the Iranian head of the Iran-Syria Joint Economic Committee arrived in Syria on Wednesday at the head of a high-ranking economic-political delegation for a three-day visit and was received at Damascus International Airport by the Syrian Economy Minister Samer al-Khali and the Iranian Ambassador to Syria Mehdi Sobhani.

During his three-day visit, the Iranian roads and rural development minister will in addition to the Syrian president meet that country’s Prime Minister Hussain Arnus, Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad, Governor of Central Bank Isalm Hazim, and ministers of economy, transportations and labor.
