Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian travelled to Damascus for talks with senior Syrian authorities.

Heading a delegation of Foreign Ministry officials, Amirabdollahian left Tehran for Damascus on Wednesday morning.

The top Iranian diplomat is scheduled to hold talks with top Syrian officials about the expansion of relations between the two countries, the regional developments, and the international situation.

A few weeks ago, Amirabdollahian’s senior adviser for political affairs held a meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus about the Vienna talks, the Ukraine crisis, continuation of the Astana process, and the meetings of the Syrian Constitutional Committee.

Referring to the developments in the region and the world and the strategic relations between Iran and Syria, President Assad underlined the need to continue consultations between the two countries, especially at turning points of regional developments.
