Kazakhstan president meets with heads of leading German companies
On the sidelines of the 56th Munich Security Conference in Germany, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on February 14 had a number of meetings with the heads of leading German companies: Klaus Lutz, Chairman of the Board of BayWa AG; Michael Wiefers, a member of the Board of Rhenus SE&Co.KG; and Patrick Wiedemann, Chairman of the Board of Reverse Logistics Systems GmbH, the president’s press service reported.
During the meeting with the head of one of the largest agricultural companies in Germany, Klaus Lutz, the parties discussed prospects for implementing joint investment projects in the field of renewable energy sources and digitalization of the agro-industrial sector in Kazakhstan.
“We need to build more wind and solar power plants in Kazakhstan, but there is a lack of appropriate infrastructure. Therefore, we are very interested in establishing a close partnership with your company,” the Kazakh president said.
During the conversation with Michael Wiefers, they discussed cooperation in the implementation of joint infrastructure projects in the transport and logistics sector.
The German businessman informed Tokayev about his company’s activities in Kazakhstan, which has two representative offices in Nur-Sultan and Almaty, and about the opening of a third representative office in Karaganda. The company expressed interest in acquiring and launching a new consolidated transport and logistics terminal in Kazakhstan.
During the meeting with the Kazakh president, Patrick Wiedemann, the head of Reverse Logistics Systems GmbH, expressed readiness to cooperate with Kazakhstan to create an appropriate ecosystem in the field of recycling of materials and waste.
During the meetings President Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s interest in diversifying foreign investments, especially from Germany. He assured the representatives of the German business community of the full support and readiness of the state to create the necessary conditions for the implementation of joint projects.
