“Russian society does not ignore the fate of Donbas, but Moscow remains committed to Minsk agreements,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told journalists while commenting on appeal of State Duma to President Vladimir Putin on recognition of Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics

“The issue’s being actual in public opinion is not a secret for anyone. Our people painfully react to what happens in Donbas. No one ignores the fate of people of Donbas and it is an atmosphere, which exists in public opinion,” noted Kremlin spokesperson.

Peskov noted that Russia has repeatedly announced its commitment to the Minsk action package and its support for the implementation of the entire Minsk action plan as soon as possible in the sequence provided for there.

He noted that the official decisions have not been made on the probability of Russia’s recognition of the “Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics”.

A Kremlin spokesman found it difficult to answer TASS’s question about the circumstances under which the Russian Federation could take such a step: “I can not reply to this question. You know that no official decision has been made regarding this issue, official discussions are not being held.”

Speaking about the discussion of this subject at the State Duma, Peskov hinted that the representatives of the people reflect the view of people: “Therefore they discuss what is actual for the people. We approach this with understanding, it is impossible to approach otherwise.”
