Non-Alignment Movement Youth Network established

The inaugural meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Youth Network will be held in a virtual format on October 4-5, Report informs, referring to the Foreign Ministry.

The event is attended by more than 100 young people representing youth organizations of the NAM member states. Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov addressed the opening of the meeting.

In his speech, the Minister noted that the establishment of the Youth Network on the initiative of Azerbaijan in this significant year, which marks the 60th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement, is a historical event and great expectations from the member states.

The Minister said that the establishment of the Network was decided by the heads of state and government of the NAM countries during the Baku Summit. He noted that through the Network, young people from member states will have the opportunity to exchange views on the challenges they face in ensuring their sustainable development and how these challenges can be addressed jointly by the governments of their countries.

Stating that the member states of the Movement have shown exemplary solidarity in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic on the basis of the initiatives put forward by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan as the chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Foreign Minister stressed that the Youth Network will contribute to this solidarity.

At the end of his speech, Bayramov spoke about the high-level anniversary event dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement to be held in Belgrade on October 11-12. He invited the members of the Youth Network to prepare recommendations on the future of the Movement to be presented to high-ranking government officials of the member states participating in the event.

The inaugural meeting of the Youth Network will last for 2 days, during which participants will exchange views on the future management of the Network and the activities to be carried out and make relevant decisions.
