by Sputnik News

On Thursday, at least four blasts occurred near the Kabul airport amid the evacuation of the Western military contingent. According to reports, at least 103 people – 90 Afghan civilians and 13 US servicemen – have been killed in the attacks.

According to Taliban official, at least 72 civilians were killed in the two explosions outside Kabul airport.

The Daesh-Khorasan* terrorist group reportedly claimed responsibility for the blasts.

Several countries have condemned the attacks, including Russia, France, Turkey and India.

The attacks come days after the Taliban gained control of the Afghan capital amid the withdrawal of US troops. In the wake of the development, many states have rushed to airlift their citizens and diplomatic personnel due to the precarious and evolving security situation. Some countries, such as the UK, have pledged to take in a number of Afghan refugees who helped US and Coalition forces during the 20-year war.
