Turkey appreciates Taliban’s moderate statements, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said late Wednesday during a televised interview.
“We have stated before that we can accept the Taliban leaders. We maintain this stance today. We also welcome the moderate statements made by the Taliban leaders. We welcome the peace of the Afghan people, the well-being of our Turkish compatriots living in this country, and the protection of our country’s interests. We are ready to cooperate”, president Erdoğan said.
“No matter who is in the administration, standing by Afghanistan in good and bad times is a requirement of both commitment and brotherhood”, the statement also said.
