Slovakia and Qatar discussed gas supplies

On Sunday, during the Doha forum, Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Ivan Korchok said that Slovakia is negotiating with Qatar about gas supplies possible options from this country to replace supplies from Russia. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

“Today I held talks with representatives of Qatar about possible options for the supply of liquefied natural gas from this country”, Korchok said.

The Minister also reminded that 85% of the gas used in Slovakia comes from Russia.

However, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad Al-Kaabi, said that it would not be possible to replace Russian gas in Europe with gas from other producers in one day, it would take five to seven years. He added that Qatar’s current gas capacity would not meet European demand.
