Russian and Turkish Foreign Ministers to discuss situation in Ukraine during meeting in Ankara

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu will discuss the current situation around the Ukrainian crisis and perspectives of restoration of talks between Moscow and Kiev during their negotiations on June 8, Russian Foreign Ministry announced in its statement Tuesday.

“The Ministers will exchange their views on the current state of the Ukrainian crisis, and perspectives of restoration of Russian-Ukrainian peace talks. The Russia side will inform Turkish colleagues about the progress of the special military operation in Ukraine and the steps being taken to ensure security of civilians,” the Ministry said.

Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the Ministers also intend to discuss the situation in Transcaucasia, in the Middle East, in North Africa, Central Asia and the Black Sea region. Lavrov and Cavusoglu will also discuss the substance of the upcoming international meeting on Syria, which will take place in Nur-Sultan in June, and will “assess the outcome of the eighth session of the intra-Syrian Constitutional Committee that took place between May 28 and June 4 in Geneva.”
