SCO states sign joint declaration and a package of 30 other documents

The leaders of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries have signed a joint declaration and a package of 30 documents at the Dushanbe-hosted SCO summit on Friday. The signing ceremony was broadcast live, APA reports citing TASS.

The leaders particularly signed decisions by the SCO Council of Heads of State on the approval of the 2021-2023 plan of joint advisory measures aimed at overcoming the negative social and economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, the improvement of mechanisms to combat security threats and challenges, and the establishment of the SCO “Green Belt.”

In addition, processes to provide SCO membership to Iran and dialogue partner status to Qatar, Egypt and Saudi Arabia were launched at the summit.

Five agreements and memorandums, as well as a strategy paper, were also signed at the summit.

The SCO’s anthem was for the first time played after the signing ceremony.
