Boko Haram Attack Leads To Deaths In Borno State

An early morning attack by three suspected Boko Haram members has led to the death of at least five people near a mosque in Molai, Borno state.

One of the attackers was a suicide bomber, whose explosive vest killed one civilian. One other attacker shot at civilians, while the third was armed with a knife.

Shortly after the attack, military special forces were deployed to the area and killed one of the terrorists while the last one armed with a knife is said to have escaped.

Security officials have cordoned off Kusheri and Gwazari areas, searching for him.

Normal business activities resumed on Saturday Morning in Daura, Katsina State as residents came to terms with the fact that elections would no longer hold following the postponement of the Presidential and National Assembly polls by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).

Daura is the country home of President Muhammadu Buhari who has been in town since Thursday to exercise his civic responsibility at Kofar Baru 003 polling unit in Sarkin Yara ward.

The town came alive on Saturday as the people went about their normal business activities in the wake of INEC’s announcement that the elections have been rescheduled.

Some residents who spoke to AIT expressed disappointment over the development but said the shift in date of the elections would not dampen their spirit to participate in the exercise. Bokor

Briefing journalists on the development in Daura, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu said the President would make an official statement after the briefing by INEC Chairman later in the day.
