Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is expected with a visit to Turkey on June 8, Turkey’s top diplomat Mevlut Cavusoglu announced on Tuesday.
“[Russian] Foreign Minister Lavrov will arrive in Turkey on June 8, accompanied by a delegation of defense officials,” the Turkish foreign minister said in response to questions from Anadolu reporters.
Cavusoglu also reiterated that Turkey had no intention of joining anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the West.
“Our position is clear: we haven’t joined the sanctions, and we will not allow ourselves to be used for this purpose,” the Turkish minister said.
His announcement followed phone talks on Monday between the Russian and Turkish leaders.
