THE FREEZE IN RELATION BETWEEN RUSSIA AND THE US
Until the latter (US) begin to respect Russia’s interests there shall remain a “THAW” in relations between both countries –Vladmir Putin (Russia’s president).
The president of Russia Vladmir Putin expressed much regret and showed anger on the ways of the US in the bilateral relationship they have with Russia. He aired his views on the Eastern Economic Forum saying he believes the problem is not Russia. He stated “It is possible to unilaterally withdraw from the anti-missile defense treaty and build up the system by using a nuclear threat as pretext of an Iranian. However, once the Iranian nuclear threat is gone, they act as though everything is alright or everything has been forgotten and continue developing that system despite of everything. However if our counterparts see it from a different point of view, the way of respecting one another’s interests could change fundamentally.
He also spoke about the period when Russia began to make democratic changes in the society and made reforms to the market (This took place in the 1990’s). He went on further by stating “At that time clearly we laid the cornerstone for developing democracy and a market economy.” He said above all problems and challenges; he believes that the generation of lawmakers will accomplish the task. Hopes were out that openness would bring about a similar response from other counterparts but unfortunately it did not.
He said they felt it was time to squeeze Russia after the Soviet Union collapsed because they looked into their crystal ball of national interest and made the decision.
