The Main Naval Parade Was Held in St. Petersburg

A parade was held in St. Petersburg timed to the celebration of the 323rd anniversary of the founding of the Russian Navy.

President Vladimir Putin took the main naval parade. During his speech, the head of state stressed that Russia would build a fleet that will be unique in its capabilities for a strong sovereign state.

At the same time, Putin noted, that Russian Navy is already among the first to use the latest technology, develops promising solutions, ensures the security of the country and its national interests, and is capable of “giving a fitting rebuff to any aggressor.”

The president said that this year the naval structure will be replenished with 15 ships and combat boats. At the same time naval aviation and coastal troops are being updated. The infrastructure of naval bases is being improved, and the practice of round-the-world trips has been restored.

This year, 26 foreign military delegations participated in the celebrations. Thus, the frigate Tarkash arrived from India for the parade in Kronstadt. The Xi An destroyer arrived from China. In addition, the commander of the Iranian Navy, Rear Admiral Hossein Khanad, arrived to the northern capital on the eve of a three-day visit.
