A meeting between Turkey and the United States on the purchase of American F-35 fighters for the country’s air force will take place in the coming days, preparations are underway, Turkish Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar said.
“Negotiations with the United States on the F-35 continue. In the coming days, a meeting will be held in the United States on the F-35, preparations are underway,” RIA Novosti quotes Akar with reference to the Turkish Anadolu news agency.
It is known that the meeting is scheduled to be held in Washington.
The United States had previously excluded Turkey from the F-35’s latest fighter delivery program because of Ankara’s purchase of Russian S-400 air defense systems, cancelling the joint F-35 memorandum signed by Turkey in January 2007.
