Vladimir Zakharov: Ending occupation only way to solve Palestine issue

IRNA – The head of Russian Center for Social and Political Research said that the issue of Palestine would be solved only by ending Israeli occupation under the United Nations supervision.

The main issue in the Israeli-Palestinian conflicts is that the Israeli regime wants to take over more lands from Palestinians and the current situation has no solution other than putting an end to occupation, said Vladimir Zakharov in an interview with IRNA on Tuesday, adding that that’s why any negotiation for peace would be in vain without ending occupation.

Zakharov stressed that Palestinians’ return to their land and establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state must be on the agenda in peace negotiations.

He believes that the Israeli regime’s strike on the Gaza Strip is an obvious indication that the regime is not going to grant Palestinians their rights.

The Israeli regime even wants to annex more lands in the Holy Quds to turn it into an all-Jewish city, the Russian expert asserted, adding that Israel expels Palestinians from the homes for that reason.

Israel’s airstrike on al-Jalla building which was home to several foreign media, including Associated Press and al-Jazeera, must be condemned by the global community, according to Zakharov who said global pressure was the only way to prevent Israel from committing crimes against Palestinians.

Describing the Israeli regime’s measures as an evident example of state terrorism, Zakharov emphasized that the regime must be held accountable in international courts in The Hague.

It is on conscientious people across the world to help Palestinian people in this condition in which they are are being killed and their land is under occupation, the Russian scholar added.

He also underlined that the International Quds Day introduced by the founder of the Islamic Republic, the late Imam Khomeini, has been helpful because it has increased attentions to the Palestinian cause.
