Georgia and NATO discussed preparations for joint exercises scheduled for 2025. This issue was on agenda during the visit of the NATO Joint Force Training Center to the republic.
A meeting was held between the head of the NATO Joint Force Training Center, Norbert Wagner, and the command of the republic’s defense forces, the Georgian Defense Ministry reports.
The joint exercises scheduled for 2025 were discussed during the meeting.
The NATO representative was also acquainted with the current exercises and training activities, infrastructure projects, existing challenges and future plans.
Georgia and NATO held the first command and staff exercises in 2016. Since then, the maneuvers are being held once in 3 years.
In the fall of 2022, the NATO Secretary General announced that the organization will increase support for Georgia if Tbilisi implements a series of reforms. Jens Stoltenberg noted that the alliance is primarily concerned with the level of corruption and public control of security agencies.
