The US authorities have offered Brazil support in obtaining the status of NATO’s global partner, according to the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo, Report informs referring to TASS.
The proposal was made during a meeting held on August 5 in Brasilia between US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Defense Minister Walter Souza Braga Netto. One of the conditions for such support from Washington, according to the newspaper, is to ban access of Chinese telecommunications companies to the national 5G mobile networks in Brazil. According to Folha de S. Paulo, there is no unanimity among the Brazilian military on this issue: the head of the Cabinet of Institutional (State) Security of the Presidential Administration of Brazil, Augusto Heleno, and his subordinates support the ban, while the troops themselves say that for the entire period of use of the equipment of Huawei, they have never encountered any problems.
