Foreign ministers of China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan held 5th trilateral meeting in Islamabad

The foreign ministers of China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan met in Islamabad on Saturday to discuss political engagement, security concerns, and trade cooperation.

During the fifth trilateral conference of foreign ministers, “political engagement, counter-terrorism, trade, and connectivity” were discussed, according to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry.

As the diplomats had bilateral and tripartite sessions throughout the day, Pakistan said it looked forward to furthering the common agenda of the three nations for regional cooperation under the trilateral framework.

Speaking to the media following the fourth meeting of the Pakistan-China strategic dialogue, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang stated, “China is ready to step up counter-terrorism and security cooperation with Afghanistan and Pakistan and jointly fight terrorist threats.”
