Israel launches airstrikes on Syrian province of Latakia

by Tasnim News

The Israeli regime’s military conducted airstrikes in a coastal province of Syria on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of two soldiers, injuries to six others, and material damage, Syrian media reported.

According to Syria’s state news agency, an unnamed military official stated that the missiles struck air defense units in the province of Latakia and were launched by warplanes flying over the Mediterranean Sea.

Subsequently, Syrian media reported additional strikes in the countryside of Hama province, resulting in “material losses.”

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in Britain, reported that these subsequent strikes targeted a scientific research center in the Hama countryside. No immediate reports of casualties were available.

These incidents follow the Israeli airstrike on the international airport in Aleppo, northern Syria, on August 28, which damaged a runway, rendering it inoperative.

Israel has conducted numerous strikes within government-controlled areas of war-torn Syria in recent years, including attacks on Damascus’ airports, but it typically refrains from acknowledging or discussing these operations. These strikes often focus on infrastructure targets.
