Germany and Iran start exchanging students

by IRNA

Germany and Iran have provided their students with the opportunity to study in one German university and two Iranian universities in Tehran and Kurdistan provinces.

The Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), the world’s largest funding organization for the international exchange of students and researchers, has paved the way for three universities of Cologne, Tehran and Kurdistan to exchange students within the framework of a project called “Multilingualism in Iran, a social look into grammatical diversity” aimed at promoting intra-university exchanges with a 100,000 euro fund.

The first phase of this plan is underway and it is possible that the project will be extended for more than two years. The aim of the project is to make students acquainted with the cultural, social and educational situations in both countries.

Students from Tehran and Kurdistan universities are going to stay three months at the University of Cologne for research purposes. The German students will also spend three months in Iran and follow up their research projects.

Two students and one professor from the University of Tehran as well as one student from the University of Kurdistan have been dispatched to Germany so far.

Two PhD students and one MA student studying linguistics at the University of Cologne will be sent to the University of Kurdistan in September.
