IRNA – Principal deputy spokesperson at the US Department of State Jalina Porter said that we are committed to seeking a mutual return to compliance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) by both the United States and Iran.
Responding to a question regarding the finishing the sixth round of negotiations for JCPOA and whether or not there will be a seventh round, Porter said in a press briefing on Monday that US Special Envoy for Iran Robert Malley “is currently in Washington in consultations, of course, after returning back from the sixth round of talks.”
“We haven’t had any announcement for the seventh round of talks; those haven’t been announced. But just to reiterate, as Secretary Blinken has noted, we are committed to seeking a mutual return to compliance with the JCPOA by both the United States and Iran”, she added.
Earlier on Tuesday, a spokesperson of the French ministry of foreign affairs said that courageous and strong decisions must be made because the talks are coming to the most sensitive issues, adding, “We believe that these negotiations must quickly resume.”
The spokesperson added, “As the [French Foreign] Minister [Jean-Yves Le Drian] reaffirmed following his meeting with [US Secretary of State] Antony Blinken on Friday, the discussions have already resulted in considerable progress, notably with respect to the nuclear component. However, we still need to overcome technical difficulties and significant political obstacles in order to reach an agreement.”
The spokesperson also added, “Together with its E3 partners, France remains fully committed to these negotiations, with the aim of reaching an agreement that is entirely satisfactory.”
The administration of Iranian President-elect Ebrahim Raeisi will handle Vienna talks if Tehran’s desirable demands are not met before the end of the outgoing administration’s term, the government said Tuesday.
Government spokesman Ali Rabiee said Iran has made clear its stance, adding that the negotiations have reached a point where all parties should make their decisions, adding that Iran has made and declared its decisions and is waiting for the other sides, including the US, to announce their political decisions.
