Conflicting parties in Sudan agree to extend ceasefire for another 72 hours

The Sudanese army decided on Thursday to prolong the previous humanitarian ceasefire with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for an additional 72 hours.

The armed forces issued a statement saying that “the leadership of the armed forces agreed to extend the truce for an additional period of 72 hours, taking effect from the end of the current truce.”

The armed forces emphasized in the statement that “the rebels must abide by the requirements of the truce this time.”

The army said that the RSF was responsible for “attacking military institutions and sites of the armed forces, sabotaging vital facilities, and endangering the lives of citizens.”

In battles between the army and civilians, at least 460 people have died and more over 4,000 have been injured.
