According to early exit surveys conducted after voting was completed on Sunday evening, the incumbent New Democracy (ND) party is well ahead of the main opposition Syriza party in Greece’s general elections.
Syriza is expected to receive between 25% and 29% of the vote, while the party of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is predicted to receive between 36% and 40%.
The Greek Communist Party (KKE) may receive 6% to 8% of the vote, making it the fourth-largest party, while the social democratic PASOK party is projected to receive 9.5% to 12.5% of the vote.
Left-leaning MeRA25, led by former finance minister Yannis Varoufakis, may receive between 2.5% and 4.5% of the vote.
With 3.5% to 5.5%, the right-wing populist party Greek Solution is expected to reenter parliament.
