President.gov.ua – The first personal phone conversation between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of the United States of America Joe Biden took place.
The US President noted that Ukraine was very important to him.
Significant attention was paid to the strengthening of democracies in both countries. The presidents stressed that establishing and maintaining democracy was a difficult daily task. In this context, President Joe Biden noted that he admired the leadership of Volodymyr Zelenskyy in transforming Ukraine into a state with strong democratic institutions.
“Ukraine and the United States stand shoulder to shoulder when it comes to preservation of our democracies. My commitment to transform Ukraine, improve transparency and achieve peace is strong,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
The heads of state also noted the importance of fighting the oligarchy. Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine’s policy was aimed at systemic de-oligarchization.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke in detail about the reforms that are being implemented in Ukraine. In particular, he noted the development of an independent anticorruption infrastructure, informed about the implementation of the land reform and the judicial reform, as well as the reform of the Constitutional Court.
The President of the United States expressed conviction that the success of Ukraine would be the success of the entire continent and underscored the unwavering support for our state by the United States.
