Resignation of Zarif Is Not Approved by President of Iran

Bahram Ghasemi, an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, said Iranian President Hassan Rouhani did not accept the resignation of Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

160 Iranian parliamentarians (majority of members of the Mejlis) sent a letter to Rouhani to keep Zarif in his post. The President extended the gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country and other departments, noting that they make the most important contribution to the fight against US anti-Iranian policy. According to him, Zarif, the head of the Central Bank of Iran, Abdolnaser Hemmati, and the Minister of Oil Bijan Namdar Zangane “are at the forefront of confronting the United States.”
