Africa50 platform donates $300K to African Health Centers

Africa50 platform has announced on Tuesday a financial donation of 300,000 dollars to the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) in response to the Covid-19 pandemic on the continent.
The Pan-African entity grant funded by 28 governments in the region, based in the Moroccan city of Casablanca, will be used specifically for purchasing test kits and other medical equipment.

Africa50 Executive Director Alain Ebobisse stated that the grant marks the beginning of a longer term association of his institution with these entities.

We hope to meet the continent’s health infrastructure needs, drawing on each other’s experience and media. We are fully committed to engaging with our African shareholders and partners in these difficult times, Ebobisse said.

For his part, John Nkengasong, Africa CDC director, said this battle will be won at the community level, and called on everyone to work together with a single level of cooperation.

We especially recognize Africa50’s donation as a good example of solidarity that Africa really needs from people and institutions, he noted.
