Africa’s COVID-19 Cases Exceed 4 Million

Sputnik News – The global death toll from the coronavirus infection has topped 2.638 million; over 119 million cases of infection have been detected, according to US-based Johns Hopkins University, which tracks and compiles data from federal and local authorities, media and other sources.

The United States, India, and Brazil are the worst-hit in terms of the number of registered coronavirus cases, while the highest number of COVID-19-related deaths has been observed in the United States, Brazil, Mexico, and India, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Meanwhile, amid a global vaccination rollout, the export data shows that the UK was the biggest importer of EU-produced vaccine doses, as it received nine million out of these 34 million doses over the past month. It was followed by Canada (four million doses) and Mexico (3.1 million doses), The New York Times added.

The EU has provided at least one dose of the vaccination to 6.4 percent of its population, lagging behind the UK, US, Israel and the UAE.
