Cross-Over: Why Petroleos de Venezuela Is Moving to Moscow?

Little is known on the market about the Portuguese “ghost” – office, despite being one of the largest oil players. This gave rise to rumors that the department only formally bore the PDVSA sign, but in fact managed the European assets of Venezuelan political leadership. Moving to Moscow simply saves them from freezing. This view is supported by RusEnergy partner Mikhail Krutikhin.

The company has already lost property and accounts in the US, and therefore the transfer of the European office to Moscow looks more than logical, says Alexei Gromov, director of energy at the Institute of Energy and Finance. At the same time, Russia should prepare for sanctions pressure if Venezuela’s financial flows go through the country.
