“The future will be completely different. However, we cannot say how different it will be”

Aleksandr Dugin on Vladislav Surkov's Article "Putin's Long State"

Philosopher Alexander Dugin gave a detailed analysis of the article by Vladislav Surkov “Putin’s Long State” on-air of National News Service.

Personal Advisor to the President of Russia, Vladislav Surkov, wrote an article entitled “Putin’s Long State”. The politician said that Russia will have a “long and glorious history,” while the West can only accept the fact that the Russian Federation “will receive prizes in the top league of the geopolitical struggle.” According to Vladislav Surkov, Russia is “effective and durable” today, and this was achieved thanks to the fact that the president “knows how to hear and understand people”.

Philosopher, political scientist and social activist Aleksandr Dugin, in his conversation with National News Service, stated that he did not agree with Surkov’s position, but emphasized that article contains quite logical and legitimate theses:

“Here we are dealing with a wild desire for everything to remain as it is. The desire to give a status quo to the current state of affairs, regime, attitude to the people, state ideology and economy … In fact, Surkov wants to say one thing: “Putin will be eternal. . That is, it will never end … Usually this happens at the last moment of the state. When it ceases to be fully aware of adequate reality, it declares that it will always exist. That it is a new era.”

Dugin also stated that:

“Approximately in the same spirit, prognostic analyzes were made for the future of the Soviet system in 89-90, when a number of people of the great thinkers of the Soviet political bureau, who said that the future of socialism was a hundred years ahead … And after a couple of years it all disappeared, just like the dust. Strictly speaking, Surkov’s confidence that this will be the case will be matched by the confidence of these secretaries of the regional committees and even of the Central Committee of the CPSU in the infinite reliability of the existing status quo. As a rule, this is a sign that it is about to collapse. Because when the regime is really firm, it does not require to inspire everyone else that it will be eternal. This is a sign of agony.”

Alexander Dugin also noted that even the merits of Russian President Vladimir Putin will not allow to avoid quick changes.

“Putin has made a huge contribution to the development of Russia, his merits cannot be questioned. This is the savior and hero of our country. In this regard, I believe that his mission has been accomplished. Putin has completely exhausted all that he could do good. Then he can only maintain the status quo, because right now, when his mission is completed, the next step is required. This next step can not be done either by Putin or Surkov, or anyone of his entourage. Accordingly, Putin fully owns the present and does not own the future at all. In the future, a complete change and revision of all parameters of the system existing in Russia will be required”, he said.

“The future will be completely different. However, we cannot say how different it will be. It can be much better than what is now, and this is the hope of our society, on the other hand it can be much worse than under Putin. Because he has not made some processes irreversible.”
