Situation in Syria and Iraq

The Syria’s Aleppo is liberated after seven years of war with terrorists

Syrian Aleppo, the largest city in Syria, after 7 years of a long war, was finally liberated by the Syrian army with massive support from the Russian air forces, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing Al Masdar News.

The city and part of its suburban territory are currently completely under the control of the Syrian army – militants managed to push back several kilometers.

“The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has officially captured the last remaining areas controlled by jihadists in and around Aleppo, ending an almost eight-year battle. According to a field source in Aleppo, the victory of the Syrian army came this afternoon after the capture of the sectors Lairamun and Kafr Hamra, which for most of the war were controlled by jihadist rebels. In addition to capturing Kafr Hamra and Lairamun, the Syrian army also took control of the Al-Zahraa Association quarter, which was the main battlefield in the city of Aleppo for most of the war. At the same time, the Syrian army also captured the last cities on the plain of Anadan, including Greytan, Babis and Anadan,” said the Arab publication Al Masdar News.

Russian combat aircraft helped to destroy the shelters of terrorists and huge columns of equipment pulled to the battlefield, in particular, it was reported that Russian Su-24s, Su-35s and Su-25s were attacked, however, Iranians also actively participated in the liberation of Aleppo Hezbollah forces, Syrian democratic forces, etc.

Experts believe that the militants may try to launch a counterattack, however, given the largest concentration of forces in this area, the latter will only suffer even greater losses.
