Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visits Togo

Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Togo on 20 July 2020.

Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé of Togo and conveyed him the greetings and best wishes of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we were going to open an Embassy in Togo to further develop our cooperation in every field, particularly in security and education.

On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and African Integration, Robert Dussey of Togo.

Following the meeting, the two Ministers held a joint press conference.

Minister Çavuşoğlu expressed his pleasure of paying the first offical visit to Togo at the Foreign Ministerial level.

Minister Çavuşoğlu also emphasized that Turkish companies were going to greatly contribute to the National Development Program of Togo and that the transfer of the school affiliated to FETO to the Turkish Maarif Foundation was a clear sign of our close cooperation.

Within the framework of the visit, the “Memorandum of Understanding for the Establishment of a Political Consultation Mechanism” between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries, the “Mutual Visa Exemption Agreement for Diplomatic Passport Holders” and the “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Diplomatic Academies” were signed.
