The first gas was pumped from the Sakarya field to the Filyos gas processing facility yesterday.
The TPAO Filyos facility will process Black Sea gas, reducing Turkiye’s reliance on energy imports and making a significant economic contribution to the country. Turkiye now imports about 60 billion cubic meters of gas annually. In the first half of May, it is planned to distribute domestic gas to residences.
Five of the ten wells slated for construction as part of Phase-1 will be put into service following today’s event, with the other five following at the end of September.
The transition to Phase-2 production in 2026 will increase daily gas production to 40 million cubic meters, and Phase-3 will increase it to 60 million cubic meters. Phase 2 aims to provide domestic gas for all of Turkiye’s housing needs.
