Activists protest in Berlin to criticize the government for failing to address the climate crisis

On Monday, Berlin’s climate activists shut down more than a dozen streets in an effort to put additional pressure on the administration.

The Last Generation protestors blocked key intersections, creating citywide traffic backups that lasted for kilometers.

The group criticized the German government for failing to address the climate catastrophe and vowed to carry out their “civil resistance” activities all week.

The majority of the climate activists were removed from the main roadways by noon, according to Berlin police, who reported that they had already dealt with more than 30 disruptive incidents. A minimum of 40 demonstrators were detained.

Emergency services were affected by the hours-long delay, with at least 15 ambulances reportedly caught in a jam.
